So thought provoking! What if we are made into who we are by a combination of innate qualities of value — like gold? And these qualities can be discovered, refined and used for a purpose — again, like gold?
This is the GOLD matrix:
Giftings
Our intrinsic talents, strengths and abilities. They comprise the “engine” of the “motorized vehicle” of who we each are. Usain Bolt didn’t make himself fast and no one can train himself or herself to be as fast as he. A BMW didn’t make itself, Bavarian Motor Works did.
Outlook
The lens through which we perceive our world. It’s the “drivetrain” and “transmission” of the vehicle. Our personality type is a means to conceptualize this. They say our respective type(s) are genetically-based. It can develop but is a “permanent” aspect of who we truly are.
Likes
Interest, and ultimately passion is the “gasoline” which fuels our “engine”. Without passion, life becomes another responsibility, an obligation without fulfillment. On the other hand, when we’re energized by our passions, we push through challenges, even adversity.
Drive
This is the “steering mechanism”, the fortitude, which moves a person through life’s challenges and, at times, adversity. It is an individual’s “hill” on which he/she would be willing to sacrifice, fundamentally, for which to die. This area is more abstract, transcendent, even spiritual.
Purpose
When these 4 components of identity function interdependently, your life has a significantly beneficial impact on others and the world in which you live. Tragically, most never discover their G.O.L.D– but that doesn’t have to be! I believe each and every one of us has a purpose for his or her G.O.L.D. Let’s discover it together. Let’s see the G.O.L.D. in one another because He sees G.O.L.D. in all of us!
